Debbie Bankert


Debbie believes art reflects not only an individual's personality but, their deepest beliefs as well. She strives to share color and line that is both rhythmic and gentle to the eye. God has breathed life into our surroundings and Debbie purposes to emulate a small window into that beauty.

Debbie, a former real estate broker, is a full-time artist who specializes in botanical subjects. She works from her studio in Orlean, VA. Her works have been shown at the U.S. Botanic Garden, the National Agricultural Library in Beltsville, Maryland, and the Corcoran Gallery of Art's Botanical Treasures of Lewis & Clark exhibit as well as the Corcoran Gallery of Art's 2007 Juried Exhibition. Her works have been in numerous juried shows where she has won several awards. She holds a certificate in Botanical Art and Illustration from the Corcoran School of Art and Design.

Debbie is a contributing artist at Monticello's Jefferson Library for the May-November, 2009 exhibit entitled Lucy Meriwether Lewis Marks: Virginia Planter and Doctoress. Works of art feature 18th century plants that Lucy would have used as an herbalist.

Debbie's professional memberships include; the American Society of Botanical Artists, the Botanical Art National Society of the Capitol Region, The Art League, Alexandria, VA and the Vienna Art League.
