Though her professional life has been focused on the verbal (writing, editing and publishing), the visual arts have been Linda's lifelong avocation. That avocation has led her through studies in art history, portrait drawing, printmaking, western and Japanese papermaking, and watercolor landscapes. She began studying botanical watercolor in 2002 through a course at the Huntington Botanical Gardens. She continues to take botanical watercolor classes taught by Lisa Pompelli and hopes to devote much of her time to botanical watercolor when she retires. Her goal is to blend the exacting requirements of botanical art with the painterly qualities of watercolor.
"I love the completely absorbing, meditative quality of botanical painting. It is the antidote for me to the busy, noisy world I live in. Studying, drawing and painting plants nourishes my joy and wonder in the beauty and complexity of the created world."
