Bruce A. Wilson


Bruce has exhibited his work at the Filoli Art Exhibition 2009, the BISCOT Exhibit 2009 (Royal Botanical Garden Edinburgh and Gardening Scotland), the Pacific Science Center, the Huntington Botanical Gardens, and at the HSNY/ASBA International Juried Botanical Art Exhibition, where he received Best of Show in 2006.

He earned his Bachelor's Degree of Fine Arts from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and recently the Botanical Art and Illustration Certificate from the Minnesota School of Botanical Art where he has been an instructor since 2006 teaching classes in Pen and Ink, Drawing, and Carbon Dust. He has taught a workshop at the Burren College of Art in Ireland and been an instructor of art classes at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum since 2002. Upcoming teaching in 2010 includes classes at the MN School of Botanical Art and at Filoli Gardens.

Bruce was the 2007 recipient of the Anne Ophelia Dowden grant awarded by the American Society of Botanical Artists for work on his independent study project on the Wild Heathers of the Scottish Highlands. Elements of this study can be seen on his web site.

As a botanical artist and illustrator Bruce has completed work on four books and done numerous magazine artwork and medical illustrations. He has worked in production and post-production in the film and video industry since college and served as Director of Photography for independent feature film development at the Sundance Institute in Utah and for Moonstone International in Great Britain.
