Biographical and content note
Arthur Moreland Scott (18881963) was a structural engineer in New Orleans who was self taught in desmidologythe study of unicellular alga. This collection concerns his work with desmids, especially relating to publications on North and South Australian desmids, “Notes on Indonesian Freshwater Algae” IIV (19561960[?]), “Desmids from the Southeastern United States” (1957), “Sudanese Desmids” (1958) and “Indonesian Desmids” (1961); exchange and identification of specimens; the work and activities of fellow desmidologists; and personal affairs. Also included are some drafts of “Notes on Indonesian Fresh-Water Algae” IV and some drawings for this and other publications.
